Hormonal Receptor Expression and Survival in Young Thai Endometrial Cancer Patients

چکیده
According to recent World Health Organization data, the incidence of endometrial cancer (EMC) varies in different parts of the world (Ferlay et al., 2010). It is the most common female genital tract malignancy in the more developed regions, with an estimated incidence of 12.9 per 100,000 women. In the less developed regions where cervical cancer is more common, EMC has an estimated incidence of 5.9 per 100,000 women in general and 4.3 per 100,000 women in Thailand in particular. Although the median age at the diagnosis of EMC is 63 years with the peak incidence reported between 55 and 64 years, a certain number of patients develop EMC at a younger age (Altekruse et al., 2010). Despite the fact that age references for a young EMC patient varies widely from <40 to <50 years, some different characteristic features were commonly observed in these patients in comparison to those in older age groups. For example, younger EMC

Past, present, and future of hormonal therapy in recurrent endometrial cancer
Endometrial cancer is a heterogeneous disease. Type I cancers are hormonally driven, typically present with a low grade at an early stage, and are of endometrioid histology. These cancers are often cured by surgery, and the rate of recurrence is low. Type II cancers are less differentiated, often appear at a later stage, and are of serous, clear cell, or high grade endometrioid histology. The r...
متن کاملExpression of ER, PR, and Her-2/neu in endometrial cancer: a clinicopathological study.
OBJECTIVE To determine any association between expression of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and Her-2/neu and clinicopathological features, including survival, of endometrial carcinoma (EMC) patients. METHODS Samples of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue of 108 patients with EMC treated at our institution between January 1994 and December 2007 were immunohistochemic...
متن کاملEvaluation of HER2/neu Expression in High-Grade Endometrial Carcinoma and Its Clinicopathological Correlation
Background & Objective: Endometrial carcinoma (EC) has been traditionally classified into two distinct categories of low-grade and high-grade. Type I (low grade) EC, which constitutes the majority of cases, is linked to estrogen-related molecular pathways. But type II (high-grade) EC accounts for 10-20% of cases and behaves in an aggressive way. Pathologic and biological featur...
متن کاملExpression of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor and the association with Demographic and Prognostic Factors in Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Introduction: Growth, proliferation, survival, and differentiation are the prominent characteristics of cells, which are affected by cancer. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) plays a pivotal role in the effective control of these features. Given the significance of EGFR signaling pathway in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), EGFR expression is influential on these cell characteristics. I...
متن کاملVascular Mimicry Expression in Invasive Ductal Carcinoma; A New Technique for Prospect of Aggressiveness
Background & Objective: In vascular (vasculogenic) mimicry (VM), tumoral cells mimic the endothelial cells and form the extracellular matrix-rich tubular networks. It has been proposed that VM is more extensive in aggressive tumors. This study was designed to investigate the rate of VM expression in the stromal cells of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and to find its relationsh...
